The City of Bartlett is committed to establishing an ideal environment for our employees to thrive. Employee surveys can play a critical role in obtaining employee input to gauge the City's success at maintaining a positive culture, retaining and maximizing talent to drive better results, and improving the citizen experience.

Analysis

In 2024, the City of Bartlett partnered with the University of Memphis to conduct an employee survey focused on enhancing the work environment, identifying training needs, and strengthening relationships among staff. The findings, presented to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and all employees in the third quarter of 2024, showed strong job engagement, satisfaction with health benefits, and positive working relationships, while also highlighting opportunities to improve retirement options, leave policies, training programs, and employee recognition. These priorities were incorporated into the fiscal year 2025 budget following review by the employee advisory board.

Overall, 81% of employees indicated that Bartlett is a good place to work, with a goal of reaching 90% satisfaction in the coming years. As part of a follow-up assessment, the City participated in the Memphis Top Workplaces survey. Results will be announced in February 2026, providing an external benchmark of Bartlett’s workplace culture and recognizing its commitment to employees.
