Definition
The City of Bartlett currently discharges a portion of the Fletcher Creek Sewer Basin to Memphis via the Santa Valley Sewer Line. As a part of the City of Memphis Sewer Study, this area will require a six-million-gallon Sewer Equalization Tank. The City of Bartlett has contracted with Barge Design Solutions to conduct a Sewer Flow Monitoring Study. This Study will allow the City to size the required tank, phase the tank construction, and ultimately spur development within this sewer basin.
Analysis
Barge Design Solutions has completed the flow monitoring and modeling for the MF18 Fletcher Creek Sewer Basin. They have determined that the equalization (EQ) tank should be sized at 1.5 million gallons (MG).
Initial analysis of future development needs within this basin indicated an increase in the size of this tank by an additional 1.6 MG. This would require an overall storage volume of 3.1 MG. In addition to this enlarged tank the main line size will need to be increased from approximately Germantown Road to Brother Blvd.
City of Bartlett will move forward with the agreed-upon 1.5 MG tank, with continued monitoring, which addresses storage for the existing level of development. Barge was awarded the continued monitoring, sizing, and construction plans development contract. They have partnered with Parker & Estes to develop the construction plans.
Final sizing for the tank has been established and the the design phase has begun. In addition the associated upsizing of the gravity line has been determined and preliminarily laid out. Earlier this month an initial walk through was conducted and surveying of this layout will soon begin.
